Describe yourself in 3 words
Soulful, purposeful, quirky!
How do you want people to feel when listening to your music?
I want people to feel understood. I want to reassure them that their experiences are human and valid. I hope for people to feel more connected to life, because that how I feel when listening to my favourite artists.
What's your dream venue to play?
My dream is to sell Out the Royal Albert Hall one day. I’d bring a choir and have special arrangements of my songs. One day.
Who are your biggest fashion inspirations?
Pat Butcher from Eastenders was one of my first inspirations, and she still inspires me to be brave. No matter what anyone around her thought about her outfits, she wore what she liked and was creative. I admire how much her style was a reflection of her sturdy sense of self.
Describe your personal style.
I’d say my personal style is chic and quirky. When chatting with my stylist Patricia Humm, I say we’re aiming to style Tyler the Creators little sister.
Why vintage?
Because vintage was my way into style! As a teenager in Luton, the only access to affordable clothing was charity shops. And I’d find some of the most amazing pieces! A vintage store holds clothes that have character and, as my style evolves, I always come back to vintage.
What’s your favourite item you are wearing right now and can't live without?
My black vintage CHAPS shirt/jacket with a cream inner fleece. It goes with EVERYTHING!
What festivals are you going to this year?
I’m going to be playing at the We Out Here Festival on the 10th of August. I’m so excited! I’ll be wearing a special outfit, styled from pieces found in the Dalston Beyond Retro store!
What’s next for Cherise?
Touring! I'm going to share my album with as many people as I can! I'm ready to push and push hard. Thank you so much to Beyond Retro for supporting me and my music!
