The Position:
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Senior Accountant to support the
financial operations of our Nordic retail business. In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, and providing critical financial insights that drive strategic decision-making.
Reporting to the Financial Controller, you will play a key role in managing financial reporting, reconciliations, and analysis while collaborating closely with cross-functional teams to optimize financial processes. Your expertise will contribute to the overall efficiency and success of our finance department.
This is a temporary, full-time position based primarily in our Stockholm office, with the flexibility for remote work as needed.
We are looking for a candidate who thrives in a fast-paced environment, demonstrates a proactive approach to problem-solving, and possesses a strong understanding of financial operations within a retail setting.
Key Responsibilities:
● Oversee and reconcile balance sheet accounts, including bank, credit card, and intercompany transactions, to minimize financial discrepancies.
● Ensure accurate intercompany reconciliations and maintain proper documentation.
● Support month-end closing activities, including journal entries, accruals, and reconciliation of sales and cost of goods sold.
● Record and manage cash transfers, foreign currency transactions, and banking activities to ensure financial accuracy.
● Assist in the preparation of monthly financial statements and financial analysis for leadership review.
● Update and analyze actual vs. budget reports to track financial performance.
● Conduct variance analysis on expense accounts to provide detailed financial insights.
● Participate in virtual team meetings and company-wide discussions to stay aligned with business goals.
● Take on additional
nance-related projects and responsibilities as assigned by the Financial Controller.
● Coordinate and liaise with external auditors, tax authorities, and regulatory agencies to ensure compliance with
nancial reporting and tax obligations.
● Develop and maintain effective internal controls in the Nordic region, policies, and procedures to safeguard assets, mitigate risks, and ensure integrity and accuracy in financial reporting and operations.
Preferred Skills/Experience:
● 5+ years of relevant experience in accounting, financial operations, and reporting.
● Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office & Google Suite, with an emphasis on Excel/Google Sheets (pivot tables, VLOOKUP,
lters, etc.).
● Experience working with ERP systems (NetSuite preferred).
● Background in the financial sector, payments industry, or retail finance is a plus.
● Strong accounting skills, with a clear understanding of debits, credits, and journal entries and their impact on
account balances.
● Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
● Ability to prioritize tasks efficiently and maintain a structured approach to financial processes.
● Thrives in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple projects under pressure while maintaining a positive
and solution-oriented mindset.
● Strong communication skills, including the ability to clearly present financial data, articulate insights, and collaborate effectively across departments.
